I feel cheated. I just realised that my lipstick is expired. It isn't even a month old yet it looks amazingly patchy on my lips. How perfect. Then again, I am trying to convince myself that it looks 'artistic'.

Winter is creeping up really quickly as the days go by which means rolling out of bed is like attempting to push a hibernating hippopotamus. Hot, long showers, warm japanese green tea and random compulsive snacking throughout the day is typical of me during this period.

Currently working on a womenswear project inspired by a recent film, Black Swan (2010) and hence, a post overloaded with random images of streetwear somehow interlinked with ballet. Other than that, I want a piece of that Alexander McQueen book stopper!

And they finally arrived! I have to say that the skirt looks a lot better in reality! With every twist and turn, the metallic studs gleam with pride. Although the picture doesn't really capture its glittery beauty, in reality, I assure you it looks like one beautiful gem of a skirt. Very glamorous, I must say. And the gold choker? A true beauty. It reflects Versace's iconic motif. I love them both!

Funny how I actually received them. My parcel was sent to the wrong address and surprisingly it was a pub. Yes, a pub. I remember having a huge, panic attack when I found out through the tracking website that my parcel was 'received and signed' when clearly, I did not receive anything. Somehow, I had a deep, instinctive feeling that the postman sent it to a wrong address that is similar to mine and it turned out to be a pub down the street. Thank God no one was greedy/mean enough to rip up my package into pieces and steal my items as I have actually prepared myself beforehand to bawl my eyes out if that happens.

Have any of you purchased any items from the Versace for H&M collection?

the devil is in the detail

I love this collection to death. The details found in these garments are breathtakingly amazing.

imperfectly perfect

My current favourite models. Somehow, all of them are similar in a way that they have a certain vagueness about their looks. They look imperfectly perfect which is what I personally find appealing.

1. Abbey Lee Kershaw
2. Sun Fei Fei
3. Daphne Groeneveld
4. Liu Wen
5. Natasha Poly

passion

Random bits of myself:

1. As a child, I have always loved painting and drawing. It is a passion of mine that has never died down over the years. It only became more intense as each year passes by. In college, I experimented heavily with acrylic paints and mixed media/collage. For now, water colour and inks are my best friends as they help me achieve the kind of messy yet ethereal look that I like producing in my fashion design illustrations.

2. A glimpse of my previous menswear project.

3. My favourite instrument in sketching is the most basic one: The traditional pencil. Staedtler brand in particular. What I loathe are mechanical pencils. Somehow, they limit my artistic freedom in terms of sketching.

4. I find myself constantly attracted to childish, whimsical things like this overly huge, bunny ears iPhone case of mine. To add to that, it comes with a furry rabbit tail that can be suctioned onto the back of the iPhone. Yeah, you're laughing right now.

5. Dark imagery like this tickles my fancy. Image from "Les Costumes," Madame Figaro, 2006.

change

It is past midnight right now but my mind is burdened with thoughts of my blog header for the past one hour. Yeah, pretty dramatic you might think but, being the obsessive perfectionist that I am, I thought the name of my blog itself sounded.. well, too predictable perhaps? I thought of having my own name imprinted as it instead but, I figured it sounded too 'straight-in-your face'? I'd save it up for my very own portfolio website in the future. And so, I ended up with something metaphorical: Dark romance. It represents the clashing and contrast of two elements yet they ironically blend in together well. That is how I see myself through my choice of clothing anyway. So, there you go. New blog header. I hope I won't change my mind in the near future.

The fashion studio was filled with cricket sounds today. An over exaggeration in my part but we just finished our critical review and presentation the day before and hence, students are busy easing their minds off projects. First project of the year, done. And another one coming my way. I have to say that I am extremely excited for my latest assignment as I have the option of choosing womenswear over menswear. The best part of all is that it has to be avant garde which is what I feel most comfortable doing as a student/designer.

For some reasons, I can't seem to find any luck in purchasing an authentic pair of Jessica Simpson Dany or Jeffrey Campbell Foxy Wood (both in black). They are always and forever out of stock in my size! Extremely frustrated, these ASOS heels are my last resort. They are after all, a good mimic of the Dany's. Apart from that, I think I need another pair of either leather or dark wash denim shorts. I have been abusing this pair way too much now. I am such a 'short shorts' girl, am I not?

My current obsession: Dark berry lips. I guess I am taking advantage of the dark and gloomy weather here as an excuse to having vampy lips. Then again, I will forever be attached to dark shades with utmost loyalty. It was only a few days ago that I had the notion of clashing two contrasting colours together hence, the dark lips smacked against the romantic softness of the cocoon-like cardigan. The gold accents perhaps blur out the line between these contrasting elements, creating an almost dark yet romantic affair.

As goth-like as I sound, I'd probably try out black lipstick next. It is all about experimenting: Trial and error.

Christmas is probably a wee bit early for me this time. Just purchased a pair of these chunky beauties from Steve Madden. Minimalist shoegasm at its best. I can't wait to tear up the parcel into pieces like a mad woman and ogle at them for hours once it has arrived by my doorstep.
